Winter is here. The days are cold, the winds shoot through shaking us down to the bones. We contemplate the necessity of leaving the warmth of our homes. Winter is naturally a time that we usually feel more isolated, fearful or anxious..it takes a strong person to sit and FACE themselves but here we are.. nature is asking us in a polite way to stop, look within and contemplate where we are in our season of life.

Its hard to take a good photo of mush. :) However the taste WAY outshines the look of this dish! A lovely slow cooked melt in your mouth winter meal. Have it in the oven by 2.30 pm for a 5 pm serving. No slow cooker required.

Winter and kids… what can I say. For me, it conjures up images of little kids running around in layer after layer of warm clothes. Rosy red cheeks as they run through the crunchy dropped leaves usually sporting an over the top bobble knitted hat while snot pours from their nose down their face. Nice.
Sometimes no matter how “onto” it you are it all sometimes can just get overwhelming…. It might be for a few hours, might be for a few days, might be longer. Right now I’m in a “few weeks” of things getting on top of me. There are splashes of “normal” sprinkled in there, but the underlying “dis ease” is there. Personally we have gone through about 7 weeks of constant “health-related” attacks on my 3 yr old and a fight between balancing traditional and natural medicine to heal and strengthen her.. (dont worry she is ok) but that isnt my point. My point is that within the same amount of time I also have had to deal with my beliefs and emotions and the information thrown at me while I am in the “deep end” and how I REACT and RECIEVE this information in this “altered” state.

I am desperately trying to keep some veggies alive and I was born somewhat garden challenged. Not wanting to pump my veg full of chemicals and pesticides I have stirred up some natural garden care to ward off the nasties. Natural insecticidal sprays are a great alternative to chemical sprays for your safe non toxic garden. However! They can also burn leaves or harm tender plants. Always be on the safe side and test a few plants or a few leaves for sensitivity before spraying the WHOLE plant. Check for any damage after about three days. When you have cleared a spray for use, apply it in the evenings soaking the plant thoroughly including under the leaves. Here are a few recipes to get you started.
